Projects & Experience

From concept to creation — explore the engineering projects our members bring to life.

Ongoing Projects

ASME-VIT members are currently working on five research and engineering projects spanning composite manufacturing, energy systems, and fluid dynamics.

Ongoing

Quantitative Analysis for Reducing Wettability Defects in Composite Manufacturing

Materials Science · Composite Manufacturing

Mar 2026 – Oct 2026

Investigating how resin flow, fiber surface conditions, and vacuum pressure interact during RTM and hand lay-up fabrication to quantify and reduce wettability defects. The team is evaluating advanced surface treatment techniques to improve fiber–resin bonding and produce stronger, more uniform composite structures.

Ongoing

Intelligent Process Optimization for Void-Free Composite Manufacturing

Process Engineering · Composite Manufacturing

Mar 2026 – Oct 2026

Moving beyond trial-and-error, this project builds a predictive framework for resin infusion and curing to achieve low-defect composite laminates. Research focuses on adaptive mechanisms and high-efficiency processes that minimize internal voids while remaining viable for industrial-scale production.

Ongoing

Advanced Surface Engineering and Wear Resistance for Composite Tooling Systems

Surface Engineering · Manufacturing

Mar 2026 – Oct 2026

Developing surface engineering solutions to improve the durability and lifespan of composite manufacturing molds. Research examines polymer–mold surface interaction under high-stress conditions to deliver cost-efficient tooling that enhances precision, reduces downtime, and sustains consistent production quality.

Ongoing

Advanced State-of-Charge (SoC) Estimation & Battery Management Systems

Energy Systems · Embedded Electronics

Mar 2026 – Oct 2026

Addressing the challenge of accurately determining remaining energy in lithium-ion batteries to eliminate range anxiety and extend operational life. The team validates advanced estimation algorithms through MATLAB simulations and custom hardware integration for real-time performance under diverse operating conditions.

Ongoing

CFD Performance Optimization and Comparative Analysis of Turbocharger Systems

Fluid Dynamics · Automotive Engineering

May 2026 – Jul 2026

Using Computational Fluid Dynamics to simulate and optimize turbocharger performance across varying operating conditions. The project compares single vs. multi-turbocharger configurations by analyzing mass flow rates, compressor maps, and turbine efficiency curves to identify an aerodynamically refined, high-performance design.

Engineering Experience

ASME-VIT actively hosts and competes in large-scale engineering fests that push students beyond the classroom — building real skills in design, teamwork, and innovation. From our own flagship symposium to national-level competitions, every event is a chance to grow.

Hosted by ASME-VIT · Aug 2025

MECHNOVATE'25

Where innovation meets competition.

Mechnovate is ASME-VIT's flagship technical symposium, spread across three days and 72 hours of pure engineering energy. It brings in participants from every state in India and gives students a real national stage to put their skills to the test.

AERODASHRC aircraft design and racing, where teams apply aerodynamics and control systems under live competition.
MDRCMulti-Drone Racing Championship testing speed, maneuverability, and split-second decision-making.
MARINAXAn underwater ROV challenge where teams design and operate marine systems to complete timed tasks.
HOVER-X WorkshopA hands-on session taking participants from air-cushion theory all the way to a fully assembled hovercraft.
ORBITRON WorkshopA guided robotics and automation workshop covering design, programming, and practical problem-solving.
MECHATHON 4.0A 24-hour engineering hackathon where teams build real solutions under pressure and present to expert evaluators.

Why Mechnovate? Every edition raises the bar. It is the kind of event that pushes students out of textbooks and into something that actually matters.

EFX India 2026

National stage. Real competition. ASME India.

EFX India is the national engineering fest organised by ASME India, bringing together the best student sections from across the country. ASME-VIT made the trip to LNMIIT, Jaipur and competed in three events, advancing to the finals in the design challenges and finishing 2nd in the Marketing League.

IAM3DTeams designed and built a rover to collect weights in a sand-pit arena. ASME-VIT cleared the inspection round and pushed through to the performance stage.
Student Design CompetitionA rover obstacle course challenge where ASME-VIT reached the semifinals and held their own against some strong competition.
Marketing League ChallengeA creative outreach and social media competition to promote EFX India. ASME-VIT's campaign earned them 2nd place nationally.

Why EFX? Competing at this level puts everything to the test, the ideas, the teamwork, and how well we represent ASME-VIT when it counts.
